Fight Against Losses
As an employer you bear the responsibility of securing your company’s assets against loss. Losses may be generated by factors outside your company or caused from within.

History has shown that the most damaging and persistent causes of loss are internal losses. Most of our clients come to us as a result of a specific internal loss problem that required resolution. Once investigated and resolved, review of the case usually brings to light gaps in policy and security practices that created the opportunity for the losses to occur. Frequently, the person responsible is found to have a criminal history that, had it been known, would have precluded his or her hiring.

Pre-Employment Screening
Prior to the Employee Polygraph Protection Act of 1988, employers were able to conduct pre-employment polygraph exams just as law enforcement agencies still do today.
When private sector pre-employment screening was significantly curtailed (it remains allowed in certain industries) other techniques evolved. At JCFI we developed the Integrity Evaluation Interview.
This is an interview process conducted by a trained and experienced investigator that has proven on a practical level to be virtually as effective as polygraph.
Investigations
When internal losses occur, the damage is seen not only in loss of money or property, but there is also a profound adverse effect on morale.
Employees lose trust in each other, and a cloud of suspicion hangs over everyone. Without an effective response the losses continue and confidence in management becomes more problematic.
It is imperative that the persons responsible be identified and dealt with. Only then can the losses be stopped and trust and confidence restored.
Proactive Security Measures
Even with careful and effective pre-employment screening, it's possible that with a combination of need, access, and opportunity an employee may break down and commit a crime against your business. There is a well known saying, “Locks keep honest people honest.” Proactive measures are the locks we put in place to keep our honest employees honest.
Proactive measures include hardware such as CCTV systems and a well maintained access control and alarm system, plus sound security relevant policies such as good cash handling and inventory practices.
